Ending Child Poverty
Building abundance in childhood
Ending child poverty is an essential step in building a healthier, more equitable future where all children have the resources they need to thrive. By ensuring families have access to financial stability, healthcare, and early childhood support, we can break the cycle of poverty and create lasting opportunities for future generations.
A.
Expand Oregon Kids' Credit and press for the return of the expanded federal child tax credit.
B.
Increase the phase-out of the child credit to $35k (full credit)-- $45k (phase-out ends) and bump the credit amount up as much as funding allows, close to $1,200. That way a minimum wage worker in Portland would qualify for full credit and be outside of the phase-out.
C.
Still to come: Create a targeted financial assistance program to support pregnant and postpartum people.
D.
Support expansion of state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) contribution, led by Congressman Raul Ruiz.
